Mount Dempo

Mount Dempo is located in the border province of South Sumatra and the province of Bengkulu. Although this mountain high enough, but the water is crystal clear that there are up to half the journey to this mountain, so climbers do not have to worry about running out of drinking water during the trip. A stream of small clear, flowing across the border we began to enter the sign forest forest area is overgrown with vegetation similar to those we find in Mount Gede-Pangrango, the montane forest . The path is full of the roots of the cross, itself a fairly steep slope to sweat. There are no specific signs, state the forest is almost homogeneous and very quiet.
Four or five hours later, we will enter an area with vegetation vegetation fringed lower and lower, some areas slightly open, the view became widespread. Mount Dempo has two peaks are the only named Peak Fire. Towards the first peak which is a plain massive Dempo, first peak overgrown plants that resemble low shrubs. From the first summit we descend back to the valley is flanked by the first peak and the main peak. Valley have a spring water flowing here. Only the crystal clear water is a little sour taste, perhaps the influence of seepage of sulfur.
Climbing the main summit is not too difficult. Slopes composed of gravel and rocks with kemitingan slope of about 40 °, is stable enough to climb. The main peak of Mount Dempo (3158 m), is a volcanic crater which is still volatile with a diameter of about one hundred square meters. Quite steep crater walls and could not descend without ropes rock. The view from the top quite exciting. Apart from the crater that gives a special impression, it appears also terhamparan Bengkulu province with the Indian Ocean with a quiet stretch of valleys and quiet. The trip down takes only two hours. If you can stay in the benighted Dusuun VI, by first asking permission of the head of security there.
